Lupe

At 50 years old, Guadalupe—known lovingly as Lupe—carries the heart and vision of Punto Zero in Cd. Juárez. Together with her husband Beto, she founded the sanctuary eight years ago after years of caring for their son, Jesús, who lives with schizophrenia. When Beto passed away during the COVID crisis, Lupe carried the mission forward, even as she carried her own grief. Out of her family’s struggles, she built a place of refuge for others—those whose battles with mental illness too often leave them overlooked and forgotten. Lupe’s story is one of resilience, faith, and love. What began as care for her son has grown into care for an entire community. Her life is living proof that pain can be transformed into purpose.

Laura

For the past eight years, Laura, age 32, has poured her heart into the mission of Punto Zero in Cd. Juárez. As the daughter of Lupe and the late Beto, she carries forward the legacy of compassion and care they began. Laura helps oversee the sanctuary, ensuring that those often overlooked by society are given the dignity, love, and stability they deserve. Beyond daily responsibilities, she tirelessly seeks donations—an unseen but vital labor that makes meals, medicine, and care possible for every resident. Her work is not just administration—it is advocacy. It is the conviction that every life matters and that every soul deserves warmth, safety, and belonging. Laura’s dedication is one of the beating hearts of Punto Zero.

Hector

At just 25, Héctor has already spent seven years serving the community of Punto Zero in Cd. Juárez. He’s the husband of Laura, and around here, he’s known as the jack-of-all-trades. From cleaning to repairs, from small projects to giving haircuts, Héctor’s versatility keeps the sanctuary running day after day. But it’s more than the work he does—it’s the quiet dedication behind it. His hands carry both skill and care, and through them, he helps create a space where dignity, safety, and community thrive. Every community needs someone like Héctor—the one who shows up, pitches in, and does what needs to be done. At Punto Zero, he is that steady presence.
